An industrial vacuum cleaner stolen during a burglary in Carlisle was used to remove asbestos, police have warned.

The yellow Numatic cleaner was taken from the former Richard Rose premises in Harraby, over the weekend.

Cumbria Police said they would carry a serious health risk to anyone coming into contact with it.

Five others, also being used in the renovation and containing asbestos, were moved into a different room during the break-in.

Officers have appealing to anyone with information about the theft or the whereabouts of the item to contact them immediately, and not to touch it.
