Injured cyclist trapped under car near Wigton

Emergency services battled for an hour and a half to free a cyclist trapped under a car in Cumbria.

The 42-year-old suffered serious injuries in the incident at Ireby near Wigton on Thursday morning.

Great North Air Ambulance paramedics treated her at the scene while fire crews attempted to extricate her.

She was then airlifted to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary, where her condition is described as serious but stable.
