Barrow school's £3m revamp marked

Pupils and staff have celebrated the reopening of their school following a £3m refurbishment.

St George's C of E Primary and Nursery School, in Barrow, was one of three primary schools in the town to benefit from £12.8m through the primary capital programme.

The school was moved into the former Alfred Barrow School building for 16 months while the work was carried out.

The project involved combining four separate buildings into one.

Listed buildings at the site, which are more than 160 years old, were the only parts of the original building which remain.
