Carlisle garage baseball bat attack man 'improving'

A man who suffered head injuries when he was attacked with baseball bats is slowly improving, police said.

The 32-year-old also suffered a broken shoulder when he was set upon on the forecourt of Whiteclosegate petrol station, in Carlisle, on 26 October.

Detectives have only just interviewed the victim and are still trying establish a motive for the attack.

Three men carried out the assault and left in a P-reg, green, Subaru car that was later found burned out in a field.

A spokeswoman for the Cumbria force said: "The victim is still in a bad way but is improving.

"We have only just managed to interview him and are still trying to establish a motive for the attack."

Detectives do not believe the Subaru, registration P990 MKP, was stolen and are trying to trace previous owners.
