Call for Cumbria appeal panel volunteers

A council is calling for volunteers to sit on education appeal panels and help decide children's futures.

Cumbria County Council currently has about 40 volunteers and deals with around 200 appeals every year.

Panel members decide whether children are admitted to the schools of their choice and whether pupils should be excluded from classrooms.

The closing date for applications is 28 February and applicants must not have any links with schools.
