Husband in court over attempted murder in Cumbria

A man has appeared at Carlisle Crown Court accused of attempting to murder his wife.

Richard Steven Booth, 56, was arrested after his wife, Gaynor, 55, was found with a serious head injury at their home in Newby East, near Little Corby on 22 December.

Mr Booth did not enter a plea at the hearing on Monday. He will next appear at court on 28 February.

He was remanded in custody until that date.
