Investigation into Cumbria school coach crash complete

A Cumbria Police investigation into a crash involving a school coach which claimed three lives has been completed.

Kieran Goulding, 15, and Chloe Walker, 16, died when the 49-seater was in collision with a Honda Civic on the A66 near Keswick on 24 May.

The driver of the Honda, 68-year-old Patrick Short, was also killed.

Cumbria Police said there would be no criminal prosecution and the file has been passed to the coroner, who will hold an inquest.

Families of those involved have been informed.

Insp Richard Vernon of Cumbria Constabulary Road Policing Unit, said: "This was a devastating crash which tragically claimed three lives and shocked the local community.

"We have conducted a detailed and lengthy investigation on behalf of the coroner and can now confirm that there will be no police prosecution against any individual involved.

"I would like to thank all those who assisted us in this inquiry for their patience and support during the investigation process."
