A pedestrian has been hit and killed on the M42, leading to the closure of part of the motorway in Warwickshire.

The northbound route between junctions 10, for Tamworth, and 11, for Appleby Magna, was shut from the early hours, but reopened at about 11:30 GMT.

One southbound lane was also closed, with queues of more than an hour reported, but this reopened at about 11:00.

The pedestrian was a man aged in his 20s, Warwickshire Police said.
