William Heathcote death: Jury in manslaughter trial discharged

Jurors have been discharged in the trial of a man accused of killing a 75-year-old grandfather.

Steven Ray Jones, 25, of no fixed address, was charged with the manslaughter of William Heathcote.

Jurors were also directed to deliver a not guilty verdict for Paige Tomlinson, 18, from Mercia Way, Warwick, who was charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

Mr Heathcote was discovered in Pickard Street, Warwick, on 18 November.

He was later pronounced dead at hospital.

Jones had also been accused of conspiring to pervert the course of justice and witness intimidation.

The trial had been taking place at Warwick Crown Court.
