Police launch murder inquiry after man found in Coventry with stab wound

Police have launched a murder inquiry after a man was found with fatal knife injuries in Coventry.

Officers were called to the Holyhead Road at about 22:10 BST on Thursday, where they found a man with a stab wound in his chest.

The man, who has not been named but is in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nearby houses and the Great Meeting House Unitarian Church car park have been sealed off for forensic inquiries.

Det Insp Shaun Egan, from West Midlands Police, said they believed the man was involved in an "altercation" at a nearby church.

"Holyhead Road is one of the busiest in Coventry and I'm sure there are potentially many witnesses who may have seen the incident or the moments before or immediately afterwards," he said.
