Police investigating the disappearance of an 18-year-old woman more than 23 years ago have resumed their search of a lake in a country park in Coventry.

Nicola Payne, the mother of a seven-month-old child when she went missing, was last seen on 14 December 1991 in the Henley Green area of the city.

West Midlands Police said divers were searching "shallow water" in Coombe Abbey Country Park.

The search follows a sonar examination of the lake by Home Office scientists.

Police divers first searched the lake in March last year, and returned there in April this year.

The search is part of the on-going inquiry into what happened to Ms Payne, police said.

Two men who have denied murdering Ms Payne will go on trial at Birmingham Crown Court later this year.

Nigel Barwell, 50, of Copperas Street, Coventry, and Thomas O'Reilly, 50, of Ribble Road in the city, have been remanded in custody until a trial on 5 October.
