Two men injured as car crashes on to Porth beach, Cornwall

Two men were trapped in a car after it crashed off a promenade and on to the beach below.

Police said the car left the road at Porth near Newquay and went over a bank onto the rocks just before 10:00 GMT.

The driver, who is in his 40s and his passenger, who is in his 70s, were trapped in the car until emergency services arrived.

Both were taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. A dog travelling with them was uninjured.

One of the men was airlifted with head and neck injuries, while the other was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The coastguard, police, fire and ambulance services all attended the scene.
