Angler dies after being swept into the sea off Newquay
An angler who went missing while fishing off rocks on a Cornish beach has died.
Emergency services were called by the man's family after he did not attend a planned family event that day.
The 42-year-old man was pulled from the water off Newquay by the RNLI and airlifted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.
Devon and Cornwall Police said they are not treating the death as suspicious.
Officers said a relative carried out formal identification and next of kin had been informed.
Gareth Horner, from the RNLI, said: "It's so sad, a tragedy for all concerned. Our thoughts are with the family."
