Swimmer dies at Perranporth beach in Cornwall

A man has died after being pulled from the sea off the coast of Cornwall, the RNLI said.

Lifeguards rescued the 45-year-old man from Perranporth Beach on Monday at around 17:15 BST after he did not return when he was expected.

The RNLI said the unconscious man was rescued by members of the public and lifeguards approximately 600m north of the flagged area.

Paramedics and the Cornwall Air Ambulance carried out first aid.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the man's death is not being treated as suspicious and next of kin have been informed.
