Police have launched a murder investigation into the death of a "well-loved father".

Michael Horner, 48, was found dead at his home in Gwavas Road, Newlyn, Cornwall on 29 December.

Devon and Cornwall Police have arrested two men from Penzance on suspicion of murder. They were later released on bail.

The family paid tribute to Mr Horner and said his loss "will be felt by a large number of people".

In a statement the family said Mr Horner was "a well-loved father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend".

They added: "We are devastated by his death, especially in these circumstances and would plead with anyone who has any information to come forward and speak to the police."

Police said it was "an isolated incident" and they were trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

Two men, aged 37 and 43, were arrested and released on bail until May, pending further enquiries.
