Man critical after Newquay nightclub attack

A man is in a critical condition after an attack in a Newquay nightclub.

The 27-year-old from Somerset suffered a serious head injury and a broken jaw at Sailors Nightclub on Saturday night, said police.

He was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital but later transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

A 27-year-old man from Swindon was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and has been released on bail until 10 July.

Detectives from Devon and Cornwall Police want to speak to three people who witnessed the incident.

They include a man in a baggy basketball vest top, who carried the injured man to the side of the dance floor, and two women, one in a red dress and the other in a black and white dress.
