Special constable denies Newquay hit-and-run police van crash

A special constable with Devon and Cornwall Police has denied failing to stop after an accident in which a pedestrian was injured.

James Murray was charged after a Ford Transit police van hit a pedestrian on East Street in Newquay, on 14 April.

Appearing before Bodmin magistrates, Mr Murray, 47, from St Columb Major near Newquay, also denied driving without due care and attention.

He now faces a trial on a date yet to be decided.
