A man accused of starting a fire at the Cornish Pirates rugby ground has denied two counts of arson.

Ross Vickers, 22, pleaded not guilty to arson with intent to endanger life and to committing arson recklessly.

At Truro Crown Court he was remanded in custody but no date was set for trial.

In January, about 30 firefighters were called to the blaze in the Mennaye Field, Penzance, which destroyed a marquee. No-one was injured and the main stand was not damaged.
