Two seriously injured in Cornwall crashes

Two people have been seriously injured as black ice caused a number of collisions on roads in Cornwall.

Two cars collided on the A394 at Rame Cross near Penryn at about 08:00 GMT.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were treating injuries to two casualties "as either life changing or life threatening".

One person was also treated for back and neck injuries after two vehicles collided on the B3297 at Burras Wendon, near Helston.

And a motorcyclist suffered serious leg injuries after coming off Bassett Road, near Redruth.

A police spokesman said: "Road conditions were obviously difficult this morning and I would urge motorists to slow down and take extra care.

"We have received numerous reports of ice on the roads and whilst the conditions may appear to have improved there still could be patches of untreated roads which remain dangerous."
