Treyarnon Bay mother and son 'swept out to sea'

A mother and son were taken to hospital after getting into difficulties in the sea at Treyarnon Bay in Cornwall.

The coastguard scrambled a rescue helicopter and the Padstow Lifeboat after reports the pair had been "swept out to sea".

But they made it back to shore before the SAR helicopter or Lifeboat arrived at the scene at about 08:00 BST.

They are being treated for hypothermia and shock. It is thought the boy got into trouble whilst body boarding.
