'Cruel blow'

Mr Palmer was found near the junction of St Marys Road and Robins Close at about 02:00 BST on Saturday.

"All the locals are absolutely gutted... he'll be sadly missed."

Floral tributes, including one which said "RIP Colin - a great friend" have been left near the scene of the incident.

Tributes to Mr Palmer, who was a keen banger racer, have also been paid on social networking sites.

Local town councillor Stuart Wheeler tweeted that Mr Palmer's death was a "cruel blow" for a close-knit community.
