Cornwall woman Karen Orchard cleared of attempted murder

A woman has been cleared of attempting to kill her former partner and best friend by driving her car at them.

At Truro Crown Court Karen Orchard, 40, of Parc An Ithan, The Lizard, Cornwall, was cleared of trying to kill Geoffrey Richards and Roseanna Vanhorn.

She was cleared of attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm and one charge of dangerous driving.

At Truro Crown Court she admitted a second charge of dangerous driving and was banned from driving for 12 months.

Mr Justice Bennett also jailed her for six months but she was freed immediately because of the amount of time she had been subject to curfew.

The court heard that Orchard had driven at Mr Richards, 41, her partner of seven years, and Roseanna Vanhorn after she saw them holding hands.

Orchard was told she must pass an extended driving test and was ordered to pay a further £265.
