Tributes have been paid to a young woman who died in hospital after a car crash in Lostwithiel in mid Cornwall.

Emma Paige Lancaster, 20, from the Looe area, was critically injured in the crash on 8 October. She died in hospital a few days later.

Miss Lancaster's family described her as "bright, vivacious, and charismatic".

Police said Miss Lancaster's Fiat Punto hit a tree on the A390 at Downend. There was nobody else in the vehicle.

Her family said: "Our family has been left devastated by the tragic loss of our beautiful daughter Emma Paige.

"This tragedy unfolded during very poor weather conditions, whilst Emma was driving to Truro College to collect her younger sister from an evening course.

"Emma was a bright, vivacious, charismatic young lady. Socially she enjoyed a zest for life, with her natural smile and personality endearing to all."

Following the accident Miss Lancaster was taken to Derriford hospital in Plymouth suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Her life support machine was switched off on Friday.
