A man has been charged with murder after the body of a 51-year-old man was found at a property in Cornwall.

Peter Oates was found dead in the Fore Street property in Pool on Sunday.

Police initially treated his death as unexplained, but 27-year-old Somes McFarland was later arrested and charged with murder.

In a tribute, Mr Oates' family said: "We have lost a loving son, brother and uncle and a good friend to lots of people. Peter will be sadly missed."

Mr McFarland, of Seaview Terrace, Redruth, appeared at Truro Magistrates' Court, where the case was sent to Truro Crown Court.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at crown court on 4 April.
