Cornwall jobless claimant count rises in February

The number of people unemployed and claiming benefits in Cornwall has risen again, according to the latest government figures.

The Office of National Statistics said 11,116 people were unemployed in February.

It is a rise of 322 from January and represents 3.4% of the population.

Nationally, the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance increased last month - by 7,200 to 1.61 million.

The claimant count rose by about 500 in Devon.
