Food and drink 'generates 30% of Cornish jobs'

Cornwall's food and drink industry generates about 30% of all jobs in the county and produces an annual turnover of about £1.4bn, a university says.

Research by the University of Exeter, commissioned by the Cornwall Development Company, said that the industry generated 63,700 jobs.

David Rodda, from the company, said the figures showed how successful the sector had been over the past 15 years.

The company is the economic development service for Cornwall Council.

Mr Rodda said the industry's success was down to the "hard work of individual businesses, working with other industries, and receiving investment to help them grow."
