Crush injury French fisherman rescued off Scilly Isles

Falmouth Coastguard has co-ordinated the rescue of an injured French fisherman.

The fishing vessel Chephren raised the alarm at 0720 GMT when a crew member received crush injuries to his arm.

The 20m (66ft) Chephren was about 40 miles (64km) off the Isles of Scilly when the accident happened.

A rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose airlifted the injured 52-year-old Frenchman to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.

His injures are described as serious, but not life threatening.
