Savings sought in Penzance-Isles of Scilly ferry plan
The government wants to find significant savings in proposals for a new ferry project between the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall, a county MPs says.
St Ives Liberal Democrat Andrew George said he had confirmed the Department for Transport was seeking the savings.
The project has conditional approval from the department.
Mr George added that negotiations are still going on to decide how much funding would be given. Previously the plans had been costed at £44m.
The scheme would replace the Scillonian III and Gry Maritha vessels with a single freight and passenger ship. It also included a new ferry terminal in Penzance.
