Cornish college getting £10m for new building

A Cornish college is to benefit from a £10m investment for a new building.

The money is for a development at University College Falmouth's Tremough Campus called The Exchange.

The building is to increase the college's Learning Resource Centre and will include a lecture theatre and other educational spaces.

It is due to open in August 2012 and is expected to draw an additional 1,000 students into the town by 2016, the college said.

The Tremough campus currently has about 4,000 students.

The money is coming from the Higher Education Funding Council, the European Union and the South West Regional Development Agency.
