October's jobless claimant numbers increase in Cornwall


There has been another slight rise in the number of people out of work and claiming benefits in Cornwall.

According to the Office for National Statistics there were 7,622 claimants in October - 366 more than the previous month.

Numbers went up last month too, but at 2.3% of the population, the rate is still below the UK rate of 3.6%.

Nationally, the claimant count fell by 3,700 in October - down to 1.47 million.
