Woman critically ill after being hit by car in Cornwall

A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Cornwall.

The 63-year-old woman was knocked down by an Audi as it was reversing into a parking area in Frances Street, Truro.

The woman, who is local, suffered a fractured skull in the incident, which happened on Friday afternoon.

A police spokesperson said she was taken to Derriford Hospital where her condition is described as "serious and life-threatening".

The vehicle has been seized by police for examination.
