Cambridgeshire fire crews rescue pony trapped in River Cam

The rescue of a pony from a river has been captured by a photographer.

Martin Bond photographed firefighters retrieving the animal from the River Cam at Chesterton in Cambridgeshire on Friday morning.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the pony at 06:20 GMT by a passing rower.

Fire crews used specialist in-water kit to lead the pony, who was not thought to be injured, to safety. They returned to their station by 08:25 GMT.
