A Cambridgeshire Police officer is facing a retrial on assault and harassment charges after a jury failed to reach verdicts on them.

Sgt Spencer Evans, 42, from Harston, stood trial at St Albans Crown Court earlier this month following allegations made by three women.

He was found not guilty of one charge of sexual assault and two other charges of harassment.

His re-trial on the two remaining charges is due to begin on 27 June.

Sgt Evans, who was based at Bridge Street Police Station in Peterborough, denied all the charges.

He has been granted bail and Cambridgeshire Police said he remained suspended from duty.

The offences were alleged to have taken place in the Huntingdon area between 2007 and 2009.
