Flood warnings have been issued along the River Cam in Cambridge by the Environment Agency after heavy rain.

The agency has also placed warnings in Cambridgeshire at Kings Ripton, Broughton, Wistow, Bury, Ramsey, Ellington, Hamerton and Girton.

It said properties around Alconbury brook and Bin brook could flood, advising residents to take action.

The agency said rivers levels were expected to rise throughout the day because of persistent rain.

It said heavy rain was also affecting the River Nene catchment, with water levels expected to rise around Whittlesey Wash.

It has advised people in the county to check its website for updates.
