Chickens killed in arson attack in Cambridgeshire

Chickens have been killed in an arson attack on allotment sheds in Cambridgeshire.

Two vehicles and four sheds were burned out at the site in Bishops Road, Somersham, at about 03:30 BST.

Cambridgeshire Police said a number of chickens died and several pigs were injured in the fires.

A number of other sheds at the site were broken into. The fire is being treated as arson, said Cambridgeshire Police.

Insp Mark Greenhalgh said: "This was a distressing incident for the allotment owners and we will carry out a full investigation to find out who was responsible.

"I would urge anyone with any information to call police."
