Woman in Suffolk fire in life-threatening condition

A woman is in a life-threatening condition in hospital after being rescued from a flat fire in Suffolk.

She suffered burns and smoke inhalation in the fire at London Road South, Lowestoft, on Thursday evening.

Fire crews found her inside the ground floor property. She was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston.

Police and the fire service are investigating the cause of the fire, which began at about 1800 BST.

The fire caused extensive damage to three floors of the property, Suffolk Police said.

No-one else was inside at the time.
