Man jailed over fake oil drills found in Peterborough
A man has been jailed for two and a half years after counterfeit oil drills were found in Peterborough.
Adrian Belson, 56, of Oundle Road, Peterborough, admitted four charges relating to the unauthorised use of the National Oilwell trademark.
He was sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court.
Drills made in China were rebranded before being sold at a "vastly inflated price" to oil drilling companies in the Middle East, the city council said.
Belson also admitted one count of the same charge on behalf of his company, Gripp Belgique, of Peterborough.
The company was fined £20,000.
The court heard the scam could have potentially earned Belson and the business hundreds of thousands of pounds.
