Cherry Hinton Hall £1m renovation plan revealed
An historic country house in Cambridgeshire is set for a £1m restoration.
Cambridge City Council has published its masterplan for Cherry Hinton Hall and is asking for the public's views.
The council-owned Victorian country house is set in a public park south of Cambridge which is home to the Cambridge Folk Festival.
Among the plans are the restoration of some of the walled garden and the rose garden in front of the house.
Cherry Hinton Hall is now home to Cambridge International preparatory school.
Anthony French, the green space officer for the council, said a consultation had opened on the plans, which were in turn based on discussions with local people and the Friends of Cherry Hinton Hall group earlier this year.
Mr French said: "Some of the money could come from section 106 planning money which is when a private developer who is given planning permission to build something gives the council money for investment in public open spaces.
"There's also a possibility that for some of the £1m we could go for a Heritage Lottery bid."
