Man arrested on suspicion of murder after Bristol Avon Gorge death

The death of a man who fell off the Avon Gorge in Bristol is being treated as murder by police.

The body of the 28-year-old was found close to the Portway on Saturday evening, Avon and Somerset Police said.

Officers were called just after 19:30 GMT amid reports a man had fallen near Circular Road on Clifton Down.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by police.

Det Insp Louise Boyce said: "We're appealing for anyone who was on the Clifton Down or Circular Road between 19:00 and 19:30 on Saturday to call us with any information which could assist our ongoing inquiry."
