Man charged with GBH over fatal Bristol street attack

A 41-year-old has been charged with an attack on a man in Bristol city centre which led to his death.

A man in his thirties from the city, was assaulted in Small Street near Bristol Crown Court on 30 March.

He suffered serious head injuries in the attack and was being treated at Frenchay Hospital but died on 7 June.

Gary Young, from St George, has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court on 4 July.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said a post-mortem examination was due to be carried out on the dead man's body later this week.

The force has appealed for any witnesses to the attack to contact them.
