Bristol 'unexplained death' man named as Simon Bowring

Further tests on a body at the centre of an unexplained death investigation in Bristol could take several weeks, police have said.

The man has been formally identified as Simon Bowring, aged 49.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on his body on Monday but the results were inconclusive.

Police discovered the body on Sunday at a house in Welsford Avenue, Stapleton. Mr Bowring is believed to have been the victim of an assault.

The property may also have been burgled, according to Avon and Somerset Police.

A force spokesperson said several lines of inquiry were being explored to establish what happened.
