A man who went missing from an open prison in Gloucestershire two weeks ago has been arrested.

Dean Evans, 36, went missing from HMP Leyhill on 21 April and was arrested on Monday in the village of Alveston, five miles (8km) from the prison.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said Mr Evans, from Hampshire, had been charged with escaping lawful custody.

He is due before North Avon Magistrates' Court later.
