South Bristol hospital fire shuts minor injury ward

The minor injuries unit of a Bristol hospital has been closed following a fire

Nobody was injured in the "small fire" at the plant room of the recently-opened South Bristol Community Hospital on Tuesday morning.

Staff will still assess patients but they might be directed to either their GP, a walk-in centre or A&E.

Some X-ray services and ophthalmic procedures have been moved to the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

University Hospitals Bristol warned that hospitals in the city centre were likely to be "very busy" on Tuesday because of the closure.
