South Gloucestershire considers garden waste charge

Residents of South Gloucestershire could be charged £36 a year to have their garden waste collected.

The authority is considering plans to introduce the charge from the autumn to counter lost funding from Westminster.

Neighbouring councils in both Bristol and Bath and North East Somerset already charge households extra for similar services.

South Gloucestershire will now launch a consultation which could see the charge introduced from 1 October.
