Patchway man remanded over Christmas Day assault

A man has been charged with attempted murder following an altercation on Christmas Day in South Gloucestershire.

Police were called to an address in Cedar Close, Patchway, at 02:15 GMT on Tuesday where they found an injured 29-year-old man.

He was taken to Frenchay Hospital where he is in a stable but poorly condition.

Matthew Bennett, 25, from Patchway, appeared before magistrates and was remanded to appear at Bristol Crown Court on 17 January.
