Two Victorian landmarks have won £1.3m in heritage lottery funding for regeneration projects.

The Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust was awarded £595,000 to build a learning centre which will showcase its history.

Clevedon Pier has secured £720,000 to build a visitor centre, cafe, space for workshops and community events to make it more sustainable in the long term.

The Heritage Lottery Fund has said both showed "far-reaching benefits to local heritage, communities and visitors".

Clevedon Pier and Heritage Trust is also hoping to secure further grants from the Coastal Community Fund.

The trust has said if this goes to plan, the building work will begin sometime in 2013.
