More Bristol wind turbines are planned

Four more wind turbines are to be built at a sewage treatment work in Bristol.

Triodos Renewables said the 126-metre tall turbines close to Avonmouth docks would produce enough energy to power 4,500 homes.

The firm said that building work could begin in 2013 after a deal to use land owned by Wessex Water was signed.

The area already has three privately-owned wind turbines with a plan for two more council-owned turbines to be built in 2013.

The coastal setting at Avonmouth has good wind exposure and easy links with the National Grid.
