Two men arrested after copper cabling found in Stroud

Two men have been arrested after more than 300 metres of copper cabling was found alongside an abandoned vehicle near Stroud.

Police made the discovery on Haresfield Lane at 02:00 GMT on Thursday and made the arrests about an hour later.

A 26-year-old man from Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, and a 28-year-old man from Stroud are being questioned by officers on suspicion of theft.

A police spokeswoman said they did not know where the cable was from.
