Norovirus bug affects Gloucestershire hospital wards

Visiting restrictions are in place this weekend in some of Gloucestershire's hospital wards due to cases of the norovirus vomiting bug.

Cheltenham General's Prescott Ward and Gloucestershire Royal's rehabilitation Ward 1 are affected.

Anyone with sickness or diarrhoea is asked to stay away for at least 48 hours after the symptoms have ended.

Gloucestershire Hospitals Trust said the aim was to cut the spread of the bug and protect vulnerable patients.

The trust added that the situation was being reviewed daily.
