Extra staff to clear North Somerset bin backlog

An additional nine waste collection vehicles and 23 crew members have been used to catch up waste collections in North Somerset.

The authority said it had got behind on collections because of the severe weather and was only now catching up.

On Tuesday, the council said 88% of waste collections were completed in Clevedon, Yatton, Congresbury, Claverham and Cleeve.

It said there would also be extra collections on Thursday.
